FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of processing lignin with production of hydrogels and can be used for treatment of waste water of chemical enterprises. Disclosed is a method of producing hydrogel of lignin, comprising: hydrogel is formed by reacting lignin with a sorbate, involving dissolving lignin in water, containing hydroxide of alkali metal, in amount corresponding to stoichiometric ratio of 1:1 to acid groups of lignin, separation of liquid phase from gel by centrifugation, drying and grinding of obtained gel.

EFFECT: technical result is disclosed method is environmentally safe, does not require high time consumption for production of hydrogels, characterized by high sorption capacity, component ~25–50 % of sorbate from absolutely dry weight of lignin.
