FIELD: brake system of a vehicle.
SUBSTANCE: wear compensator has been created for the drum brake of the pneumatic brake system of a vehicle, which contains a gear transmission, including (i) a worm wheel having an outer peripheral surface, and (ii) a worm shaft having a longitudinal central axis and engaged with a worm wheel. The worm shaft rotates in one direction around its longitudinal central axis when the drum brake is applied and adjusted, and in the opposite direction relative to its longitudinal central axis when the drum brake is released. The wear compensator additionally contains an anti-reverse element having an internal peripheral surface facing the external peripheral surface of the worm wheel. The anti-reverse element allows the worm wheel to rotate when the drum brake is applied, and prevents the worm wheel from rotating when the drum brake is released.
EFFECT: more stable and greater amount of force to counteract misalignment compared to the known wear compensators, in which the spring element is used to counteract misalignment; ease of manufacture and assembly.
