FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Foundry multilayer shell mold for fabrication of metal castings by melted models comprises thin-wall lining, internal intermediate and external outer layers. Intermediate layers are made using low-melting pots, melting point of which is lower than mold temperature at pouring of metal. At pouring of liquid metal, external layers of the mold are subjected to considerable tensile stresses, and the layer in contact with liquid metal - to considerable compressive stresses, wherein internal intermediate mold layers made using low-melting ceramics, due to their softening from the effect of calcination temperatures and liquid metal during pouring, provide high flexibility of shape.
EFFECT: higher crack resistance of shell mold due to increased compliance.
