FIELD: rail vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of contact butt welding of long rails and welded railway tracks. Preliminary machining of welded ends is performed, their heating, settling, maintenance, passing alternating current through welded joint with pulses at intervals of 10÷40 s at current density 2÷40 A/mm2. After precipitation, exposure is carried out for 200÷300 s, and alternating current is passed through welded joint 4÷8 pulses of duration 2÷8 s, after which head is forcedly cooled by air flow with pressure of 0.3÷1 MPa and flow rate of 0.06÷0.20 m3/s for at least 150 s at rate of 80÷300 m/s.
EFFECT: invention ensures obtaining the required physical and mechanical properties of the welded joint at elimination of defects in the weld seam and the toe-weld zone.
