FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: pollen preservation methods are suggested, which can be stored later. Method according to the present invention involves collection of fresh pollen and placing it in controlled environmental conditions, in which pollen content is controlled. Controlled environmental conditions can be characterized by temperature in range from about −10 to 10 °C, controlled and programmed relative humidity, constant controlled positive or negative air flow and flow of one or more continuously regenerated selected oxygen substitutes. In another version of this method, controlled ambient conditions can be characterized by relative humidity of approximately 50 % to 100 %, temperature from about −10 to 10 °C and air pressure from approximately 15 kPa to 150 kPa. In all versions of this method implementation field preparation may be carried out if required. Such field preparation may include placing pollen in ambient conditions with controlled relative humidity, temperature and air pressure, so that the initial pollen moisture content can be adjusted to target content level.
EFFECT: invention allows increasing health and vitality of pollen during storage.
