FIELD: waste water treatment.
SUBSTANCE: the method consists in treating waste waters, containing cyanide compounds and metal compounds. The mentioned above wastewaters are subjected to a single oxidation phase, during which the cyanide compounds are converted to carbon dioxide and nitrogen. The specified oxidation phase involves mixing the waste waters with a chlorine solution and an alkaline reagent to form a mixture. The alkaline reagent is added in such an amount to maintain the pH level of the said mixture in the range of 8.5 to 9.5, while the chlorine solution is added in such an amount to maintain the redox potential of the mixture in the range of 150 to 400 mV. EFFECT: high processing efficiency.
