FIELD: chemical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of chemical engineering, in particular to the technology of water purification with solid adsorbents. In particular, the invention relates to a method for the synthesis of an absorbent material consisting of a phase tetravalent manganese pheroxygite δ-Fe(1-x)MnxOOH with a negatively charged granule surface, in which from 0.05 to 25% of iron is isomorphically replaced by manganese atoms. Production is carried out in two continuous flow reactors with a stirrer, arranged in series, under slightly acidic conditions in the first reactor (pH from 5 to 6) and slightly alkaline conditions in the second reactor (pH from 9 to 10) and redox potential from 600 to 700 mV. The material can be used to absorb mercury as well as other heavy metals from water and hot gas streams.
EFFECT: high efficiency of mercury removal from water is provided while maintaining the oxidizing capacity and low cost.
