SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a transmitting device which transmits text information together with video information. Proposed is to generate a video stream having encoded image data, wherein a subtitle stream having text information on subtitles and display synchronization information is generated. Transport stream containing a video stream and a stream of subtitles is transmitted. For example, display synchronization information with subtitles contains information on synchronization of display start and on duration of display.

EFFECT: technical result is controlling timing of displaying subtitles in a more efficient manner on the receiving side.
