SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the pharmaceutical industry, specifically to a liquid antacid composition. Liquid antacid composition containing: antacid; citrus extract; and optionally one or more other pharmaceutically acceptable excipients; where the citrus extract is present in amount of 0.025 % to 1.90 % and where the citrus extract is a water-soluble extract of citrus fruit selected from citrus aurantium amara (CAS 72968-50-4), citrus reticulata (CAS No. 84929-38-4) and citrus sinensis (CAS 8028-48-6). Use of a liquid antacid composition for neutralizing an excess of gastric acid in an individual or a lower animal, involving oral administration of an effective amount of a liquid antacid composition to said human or lower animal. Use of a liquid antacid composition for treating a gastrointestinal disorder in a human or a lower animal, comprising administering to said human or lower animal an effective amount of a liquid antacid composition. Composition described above provides excellent resistance to growth of microorganisms without detriment to acid neutralizing activity of the antacid; the composition has an improved taste.

EFFECT: when using said composition there is no increase on 14^th and 28^th days relative to the initial counted number for bacteria, yeast and mould.
