SUBSTANCE: invention is used to determine the acoustic anisotropy of weakly anisotropic rolled products. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that ultrasonic pulses of transversely polarized horizontal waves are emitted into the investigated technical object made of rolled metal. A series of echo signals arising as a result of ultrasound reflections from the opposite surface of the object boundary is received. The value of the time shift between the pulses of elastic waves is determined polarized along and perpendicular to the direction of rolling, and its value is used to calculate the acoustic anisotropy parameter, the value of the time shift is determined based on the statistical processing of the values ​​of the array of time shifts of the total impulse obtained during their measurement when the transducer is rotated around the vertical axis in the range of angles from 0 to 90 °, the magnitude of the acoustic anisotropy and its random root-mean-square error are calculated in accordance with the formulas, the determination of the required time shifts of the analyzed pulses is carried out at the points of the signal crossing through zero as close as possible to the "centers of gravity" of impulses.

EFFECT: increasing the reliability of determining the acoustic anisotropy of parts and structural elements made of weakly anisotropic rolled stock.
