FIELD: foundry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to foundry and namely to the production of a complex-profile thin-walled model of expanded polystyrene for obtaining a composite casting by casting according to gasified models. The method includes filling polystyrene granules into a mold, foaming them with the formation of a model, and then removing the model from the mold. After removing from the mold, the model is sawn through with electrodes made of refractory and high-hardness metals and alloys containing alloying, modifying and reinforcing elements that improve the mechanical properties of the casting. The electrodes are pre-bent in accordance with the configuration of a complex-profile thin-walled model, and during filing, the electrodes are installed in the expanded polystyrene model with a distance of 5-15 cm between them.

EFFECT: invention ensures uniform accelerated distribution in the expanded polystyrene model of elements with a complex alloying, modifying and reinforcing effect to improve quality of casting when it comes to gasified models of complex-profile thin-walled composite castings.
