FIELD: electronic engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electronic engineering, namely to metal-porous cathodes (MPC) of microwave electronic devices. In the manufacture of a metal-porous cathode, a mixture of powders is prepared containing at least one powder of a refractory metal, the prepared mixture of powders is placed in the pressing chamber, the density of the prepared mixture of powders is equalized in the pressing chamber by the action of vibration, and a porous part is formed from a mixture of powders with high uniformity of density obtained when exposed to vibration. The vibration frequency must be set between 20 Hz and 1000 Hz. The vibration acceleration must be set between 0.5 g (4.9 m/s2) and 5 g (49 m/s2). The vibration time must be set between 5 s and 300 s.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the uniformity of electron emission, to reduce the rate of evaporation of the active substance from the working surface of the cathode sponge, and to increase the emission life of the cathode.
