SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of veterinary medicine, namely to infectious diseases and vaccinology, and is intended for the prophylactic treatment of an animal against infection of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and infection of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS virus). A vaccine containing a combination of a non-replicating PCV2 immunogen and a live attenuated PRRS virus is used in the prophylactic treatment of an animal against PCV2 infection and PRRS virus infection. The non-replicating PCV2 immunogen is a recombinantly expressed PCV2 ORF2 protein. In this case, the specified vaccine is injected into the dermis of the animal and the vaccine contains 9 μg of ORF2 protein per dose and 10^4,5 TCID₅₀ of PRRS virus per dose. In other embodiments, a method of prophylactically treating an animal against PCV2 infection and PRRS virus infection and the use of a non-replicating PCV2 immunogen and a live attenuated PRRS virus is provided, comprising administering the specified vaccine to the dermis of the animal.
