STERNUM FIXATION SYSTEM AFTER MEDIAN STERNOTOMY SURGERY Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61B17/82

Abstract RU 2746825 C1

FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment. The system for fixing the sternum after the surgical operation of the median sternotomy includes at least one clamp consisting of a bioresorbable polymer plate with fixing teeth and a fastener with fixators, as well as a tubular removable clamp tip made of metal or polymer having a hardness exceeding the hardness of a bioresorbable polymer plate. At the end of the tip, a needle is installed or formed from a metal or polymer material having strength sufficient to pierce the tissues of the sternum. The removable tip is made with possibility of fixing the installed clamp. The clamp is reinforced with at least one bioresorbable polyfilament or monofilament thread made of a material that has a higher tensile strength than the material of the clamp itself. The period of bioresorption and preservation of the strength characteristics of the clamp material exceeds the period of healing of the patient's sternum. The bioresorption period of the material of the reinforcing threads is less or does not exceed the bioresorption period of the clamp material.

EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the tensile strength of a device made of a bioresorbable material having a tensile strength of no more than 100 MPa and low rigidity, while increasing the strength of fixation of the patient's sternum and maintaining the strength characteristics of the implant and its bioresorption for a period not less than the healing period of the patient's sternum.
