FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to cardiovascular surgery and can be used for sternum osteosynthesis after median sternotomy. Two monofilaments with atraumatic stabbing needles are tied with free ends. Both halves of the sternum are sutured transosseously. Suture is delivered parasternally on the left and on the right through the I-VI intercostal space with a diagonal shift to the underlying contralateral intercostal space in front of the sternum. Second suture is used to form a similar suture on the principle of mirror symmetry, the sutures are pricked out on the anterior surface of the lower one-third of the sternum at the xiphoid process. Suture loops are drawn until the sternum edges are aligned, the suture ends are tied pre-sternally with two sliding and seven surgical knots. Diagonal displacement of the sutures to the underlying contralateral intercostal space is performed along the posterior surface of the sternum.

EFFECT: method provides strong and at the same time elastic connection of the incised sternum edges, reduces the risk of its fragmentation and promotes improvement of wound healing due to the fact that halves of sternum in each intercostal space are fastened with two loops formed by different sutures, double symmetrical blanket suture evenly distributes respiratory loads on all planes and entire length of sternum.
