SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to obtain paint coatings with anti-corrosion properties. A metal pigment based on aluminum and / or its alloys with an anticorrosive coating in the form of a shell includes aluminum plates, which are the core of the pigment, containing at least 85 wt% of aluminum, having a thickness in the range from 1 to 300 nm and predominantly elliptical in shape. In this case, the diameter (1) of the ellipse, equal to the doubled value of the semi-major axis, is from 2 to 50 mcm, and the diameter (2), equal to the doubled value of the semi-minor axis, is not less than 70% and not more than 100% of the diameter (1). The pigment includes a coating in the form of a shell obtained by maintaining the metal core of the pigment in a non-aqueous solution of aluminum isopropylate, having a refractive index of 1.4 to 1.8. A method for producing a metal pigment based on aluminum and / or its alloys and the use of pigments in compositions for use in external coatings in highly aggressive environments are proposed.

EFFECT: invention improves the corrosion resistance of metal pigments based on aluminum and its alloys when used in water-based paints and varnishes for matte external coatings.
