In this case, the diameter (1) of the ellipse, equal to the doubled value of the semi-major axis, is from 2 to 50 mcm, and the diameter (2), equal to the doubled value of the semi-minor axis, is not less than 70% and not more than 100% of the diameter (1). The pigment includes a coating in the form of a shell obtained by maintaining the metal core of the pigment in a non-aqueous solution of aluminum isopropylate, having a refractive index of 1.4 to 1.8. A method for producing a metal pigment based on aluminum and / or its alloys and the use of pigments in compositions for use in external coatings in highly aggressive environments are proposed.
