FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for toning printing inks, writing inks, polymer materials, glasses, ceramic products and compositions of decorative cosmetics. The pigment with a metallic effect consists of coated aluminium plates of a substrate. The aluminium plates of the substrate are surrounded by a SiO2 coating, further coated with Fe2O3. The pigment has a covering power value ΔE45°≤3 with a content of the pigment of no more than 7%, a saturation value (Suv) in the range from 0.2 to 0.3, a hue angle value (huv) in the range from 50 to 65, an Alman flop effect index value of more than 26, and a Gdiff (graininess/granularity) value of no more than 6. Also proposed are a method for producing the pigment with a metallic effect and an application thereof.
EFFECT: improved colour characteristics and covering power of the pigment.
