SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a communication method and device. The method includes determining, using a terminal device, a preamble, and the preamble contains M groups of symbols, where M is a positive integer greater than 1; and transmitting, by a terminal, M symbol groups of K sets of uplink subframes, wherein any set of uplink subframes in the K sets of uplink subframes comprises one uplink subframe or more than one successive uplink subframes, any two sets of uplink subframes of the K sets of uplink subframes are spaced apart by at least one downlink subframe and at least one group of symbols may be transmitted in each of the K sets of uplink subframes, where K is a positive integer a number greater than 1 and K is less than or equal to M; and there are N times of hopping in the M symbol groups, each of the N times of hopping is hopping between adjacent groups of symbols in the M symbol groups and the directions of the frequency hopping at least two N times of hopping are opposite, where N is less M.
EFFECT: ensuring the possibility of increasing the reliability of the assessment of the timing advance.
