FIELD: transmission of digital information.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and apparatuses for reducing the time of retrieval of system information. The method of reducing the time of retrieval of system information, SI, implemented by user equipment, UE, is comprised of the following steps: receiving a main information block, MIB, containing a one-bit flag for indicating whether or not a specific SI has changed since a specified time in the past; retrieving a system information block, SIB, containing a specific SI, wherein the UE receives the SIB regardless of the value wherein the flag is set; receiving a subsequent MIB containing a one-bit flag set at a specified value indicating that the specific SI has not changed since the specified time in the past; determining whether the retrieval of the subsequent SIB can be skipped; and, following the step wherein it is determined that the retrieval of the subsequent SIB can be skipped, the retrieval of the subsequent SIB containing the determined SI is skipped.

EFFECT: technical result is improved time of system access and user equipment (UE) operation time.
