FIELD: computer technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of computer technology for multiplatform synchronization and determining the ownership of several devices to one user. Better accuracy of assigning an unknown device to a device cluster is achieved by the method of assigning the unknown device to a cluster of devices, in which: a) information is collected that characterizes an unknown device (hereinafter, device characteristics), and information that characterizes the device environment (hereinafter referred to as the device environment characteristics) b) based on the collected characteristics of the device and the environment, at least one relationship between the device and the environment of the device is detected; c) a pre-formed cluster of devices is detected that contains a device whose communication profile is similar to the profile of the communication detected in point b), wherein the communication profile contains the characteristics of the connection and interaction between the selected device and other devices; d) assign the unknown device to the detected cluster.
EFFECT: improving the accuracy of assigning an unknown device to a device cluster.
