FIELD: composite materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the area of composite materials based on silicon carbide used for oil and gas production processing industry equipment (bearings and seals for pumps and submersible aggregates) and chemical plants, in the aviation industry (parts of a piston, rotary piston and gas turbine engine). A method of manufacture of items from a reactive-sintered composite material includes molding a workpiece based on a composition consisting of a finely dispersed filler, wherein the filler constitutes a mixture of silicon carbide inert to silicon under technological parameters of the siliconizing process and elements and compounds active to silicon: carbon, molybdenum and molybdenum carbide, forming in interaction therewith refractory carbides, silicides or ternary compounds, and a temporary binder, annealing the formed workpiece at the end temperature corresponding with the temperature of complete removal of volatile products of the temporary binder, and siliconizing the workpiece with mass transfer of silicon into the pores of the material of the workpiece by means of capillary condensation thereof through generation of a low degree of ovesaturation thereof. Powders of an element or compound active to silicon and of silicon carbide are taken in a ratio of 1:10 according to granulometric composition. The mixture is siliconized at a temperature of 1500-1550°С.

EFFECT: reduced fault rate, increased durability and hardness.
