FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of formic acid by gas-phase oxidation of formaldehyde with oxygen. The catalyst for synthesis of formic acid has the following composition, % wt.: vanadium oxide (V) 4.0 to 25.0; alkaline earth metal oxide 0.5 to 5.0; alkaline earth metal sulfate 0.5 to 7.0; the rest silicon oxide 0.5 to 10.0; titanium oxide (IV). Methods of preparation of the described catalyst are proposed.
EFFECT: inventions allow to synthesize a catalyst for production of formic acid exhibiting stable activity, selectivity, strength at high temperatures in the presence of water vapor.
