FIELD: engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring equipment and can be used in mechanical engineering and repair production. The method consists in determining the readings of the measuring instrument at two diametrically opposite horizontal positions and at the vertical upper position, the measurements are used to determine the doubled value of horizontal axial misalignment, and the vertical axial misalignment is determined as a correlation to the diameter of the shaft wherein the meter is installed in contact with said shaft, the measured horizontal axial misalignment and the difference in the readings of the measuring instrument at the vertical position and the largest of readings thereof at the horizontal position.
EFFECT: simplified process of control and adjustment of coaxial alignment and expanded area of application.
