FIELD: foam plastic.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a powder composition for the production of high strength and heat resistant foam plastic. This composition consists of a polymer base and a chemical blowing agent. The polymer base is a product of the interaction of novolac phenol-formaldehyde resin with an epoxy component. The chemical blowing agent is 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile. As a polymer base, the composition contains the product of the interaction of a ground mixture of a solid high-molecular resin with a molecular weight of 1600 to 5000 (A) and a solid triglycidyl isocyanurate (B). The ratio of A:B varies from 5:95 to 25:75 pts. wt. As a novolac phenol-formaldehyde resin, the composition contains a product with a free phenol content of not more than 2% at a ratio of epoxy mixture to novolac phenol-formaldehyde resin ranging from 70:30 to 50:50 pts. wt. The interaction product is obtained by processing the powder mixture on heated friction rollers at a roll temperature of +70 to +110°C for 8 to 20 minutes, followed by cooling the rolled mass and further grinding in a ball mill together with a chemical blowing agent. The blowing agent is introduced in an amount of 1 to 5 pts. wt. per 100 pts. wt. of resin composition. After that, after any period of time, the finished intermediate product undergoes foaming in limiting molds when heated to a temperature of 105 - 115°C for 40 - 60 minutes, then the product undergoes foaming at 160 - 180°C for 20 - 60 minutes.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at obtaining a composition for the manufacture of foam plastic with high heat resistance being of better quality than any known organic foam plastic and characterized by increased strength and dielectric properties, resistance to open flame and an electric arc.
