SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. A group of inventions is described, including a nucleic acid encoding short-chain hairpin micro-RNA (shmiR), containing a DNA sequence that encodes short-chain hairpin micro-RNA( shmiR), a construct for DNA-directed RNA interference (ddRNAi), an expression vector containing a construct of ddRNAi, a composition for treating hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in a subject, containing an effective amount of a DNA directed RNA interference (ddRNAi) construct or expression vector, a method for treating hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in a subject, a method for reducing hepatitis B viral load in a subject infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV), a method for reducing severity symptoms associated with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in a subject suffering from it, a method for reducing the infectivity of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) in a subject infected with it. In one embodiment, the effector sequence contained in the hairpin microRNA is substantially complementary to the RNA transcript provided in SEQ ID NO: 4.
EFFECT: invention expands the arsenal of drugs for treatment of hepatitis B virus infection (HBV).
