FIELD: chemical processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of processing boron-containing raw materials, specifically to a method of processing datolite concentrate. The method includes fluorination of datolite concentrate with a solid fluorinating agent while heating to 410-420°C followed by separation of the resulting fluorination products by distillation. The method is characterized by a fluorinating complex containing 70 to 75% wt. ammonium sulfate and 25 to 30% wt. fluorite or fluorite concentrate being used as a fluorinating agent. Fluorination is executed through heating the CaBSiO4(OH) datolite concentrate with a fluorinating complex in an air stream with a temperature increase rate of 2.0 to 2.5 deg/min to 330 to 340°C and sustaining at this temperature for 60 to 70 minutes. The temperature is then increased to 410 to 420°C and the concentrate is sustained at the resulting temperature for 4.0 to 4.5 hours. The resulting mixture of ammonium tetrafluoroborate NH4BF4 and ammonium hexafluorosilicate (NH4)2SiF6 sublimates is heated to 250-270°C wherein the resulting sublimate is fed to a sublimator and ammonium tetrafluoroborate NH4BF4 is recovered as a solid residue.

EFFECT: proposed method allows expanding the range of means of processing datolite concentrate by ensuring effective solid-phase fluorination using a fluorinating complex containing available and inexpensive components and also improving environmental safety through a zero-waste method.
