FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of processing boron-containing material, in particular a datolite concentrate, and can be used to produce boric acid and boric anhydride. Method involves mixing datolite concentrate with ammonium sulphate (NH4)2SO4 with weight ratio of ammonium sulphate to concentrate 2.0–2.1:1, heating reaction mixture at rate of 1–2 °C/min from room temperature to 310–330 °C with holding at the achieved temperature for 5.0–5.5 hours, pulping of obtained solid mass after cooling in water at S:L=0.5–1:1, evaporation of pulp to gel-like state, heating to 500–510 °C, holding at the achieved temperature for 2.0–2.5 hours, leaching of the cooled product with water at S:L=1:5–7 and temperature of 90–95 °C to obtain a solution of boric acid, evaporation of solution until crystallisation begins and precipitation of boric acid, separation and purification of precipitate.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the method of processing boron-containing raw material and its hardware, as well as increases its economic efficiency and environmental safety.
