FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: ceramic composition is applied for generation of a ceramic coating, and a strengthened part is heated. The ceramic composition is represented by plaster dissolved in water to paste-like condition and containing the following ratio of components, wt %: chrome diboride 5-20, ferrochromium 5-20, boron carbide 34-75, finely dispersed graphite 2-14, sodium fluoride 1-5, ammonium chloride 1-3. After application of the ceramic composition onto the strengthened part, it is dried on air to produce solid crust, then the strengthened part is heated by gas flame with delay in the heated condition for the time required for generation of a ceramic coating.
EFFECT: increased corrosion resistance, wear resistance, heat resistance of surface layers of parts from steels and cast irons.
