FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: device for catching and holding the broken end of the cable at the mouth from going into the well belongs to the oil and gas industry, namely to the field of research and development of wells using a geophysical cable or other flexible traction element. The device includes a hollow body with an axial opening, which has a length sufficient for the installation of three clamps in it, forming locking assemblies at three levels, working in parallel, but independently of each other. End stops made with a larger outer diameter than that of the body form two annular bands for fixing between them a pipe elevator holding the device at the wellhead. For working with wire, the body is made with an inner conical surface, and the clamps are made in form of three balls of different diameters. To work with the cable, a cylinder with an inner conical surface, made up of two halves, is installed in the housing, and the clamps are made in form of three balls of different diameters. The body and end stops have a lateral longitudinal slot. The axial hole of the upper end stop is oval to keep the clamps from falling out, while maintaining possibility of fully pressing the cable to the tapered surface, along the line of the major axis of the oval. When working with a traction belt, a cylinder with a wedge-shaped channel, made up of two halves, is installed in the body. The axial hole is rectangular in cross-section that corresponds to the tape passed through it. The clamps are made in form of three balls of different diameters or rollers from roller bearings, the body and end stops have a lateral longitudinal slot. To keep the clamps from falling out, a truncated disc is installed between the upper stop and the composite cylinder, on which the wedge-shaped channel is made.
EFFECT: increasing reliability of work by keeping the upper end of the emergency-cut flexible traction element at the wellhead from going into the well.
