FIELD: metallurgy of precious metals.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for extracting gold from gold-bearing rock. The gold-bearing material is leached with an aqueous solution containing elemental bromine and a source of bromide, with the formation of a saturated leaching solution with gold dissolved in it. The said leach solution is separated from the depleted gold-bearing rock. The elemental bromine is removed from the said saturated leach solution. Gold is extracted from the saturated leaching solution in an acidic medium using an organic extractant to form a gold-containing extract and a bromide-containing raffinate. The above extract is desorbated with an alkaline aqueous solution to form a gold-containing aqueous solution. Gold (Au0) is produced and a bromide-containing aqueous solution is treated to produce recycled elemental bromine.
EFFECT: gold recovery process is provided, demonstrating recovery of more than 85% and even 90%, combined with high recyclability.
