FIELD: metalworking.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metalworking and can be used in manufacture of cartridge shells. An initial preform is produced by cutting off a part of the supplied wire. A tube with a circular cross-section is formed from one end of the initial preform. The tube is formed in at least three stages of reverse extrusion using a set of punches and dies. As a result, an intermediate tubular preform is produced, which can be permanently stretched without prior annealing.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is an improved method for manufacturing elongated cartridge shells.
