FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of cartridge cases for various-caliber small arms. Billet cut from bar or wire and gauged is used to extrude cylindrical stepped shell. Note here that female die with guide section and annular working cavity and counter male die are used. Female die annular cavity diameter exceeds that of its guide section. Counter male die diameter makes 0.5-1.5 of female die guide section diameter. Counter male die, female die guide section and working cavity inner surface form clearance. Cross-length extrusion is performed with partial or complete extrusion of billet material from female die guide section in its annular cavity via said clearance. Then, bottom and primer seat are formed and case body and muzzle section are squeezed.
EFFECT: simplified procedure, reduced load on working tool.
