SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular to breeding poultry. The method for selection of quail-producers when completing a breeding herd includes the separation of the bird by sex and selection by live weight without defects in the exterior. Additionally, the bird is measured by a total measurement of the length from the heel to the sacral-lumbar joint and subsequently to the tip of the beak. To complete the herd, males are selected according to the total measurement at the level of 1:1, they are higher than the females, and the females are placed with the males 2 days after the formation of the group of males.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the fertilization of eggs and the brood of young quail.
