FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a technology for coating metal surfaces and can be used in electrical engineering. The method for applying electroerosive coatings based on silver, tungsten carbides and tungsten mononitride on copper electrical contacts includes an electric explosion of a composite electrically explosive conductor consisting of a two-layer flat silver shell with a mass of 60-360 mg and a core in form of a powder of tungsten carbides with a mass equal to 0.5-2.0 shell mass, formation of a pulsed multiphase plasma jet from explosion products, melting of the surface of a copper electrical contact with an absorbed power density of 4.5-6.5 GW/m2, deposition of explosion products on the surface and formation of a composite coating of the WC-Ag system on it, nitriding for 3-5 hours at a temperature of 500-600°С and subsequent pulse-periodic electron-beam treatment of the coating surface with an absorbed energy density of 40-60 J/cm, pulse duration 150-200 micron and quantity of 10-30.
EFFECT: formation on copper electrical contacts of coatings based on silver, tungsten carbides WC and W2C0,84 and tungsten mononitride, which have high electrical discharge resistance, high electrical conductivity and adhesion to the substrate at the level of cohesion.
