FIELD: liquid purification.
SUBSTANCE: proposed group of inventions relates to a method for separating sediment from liquid, as well as to a system for extracting water-soluble biopolymers from aqueous solution. The method for separating sediment from liquid includes inducing transfer of at least part of the sediment to the upper liquid surface and removing the sediment from the upper liquid surface. The sediment is the sediment of fibrous biopolymer, which has density (kg/m3), which is essentially the same as liquid density (kg/m3). The method includes fluid medium supply to the liquid. The fluid medium has lower density than the liquid density. The method is carried out using a system containing liquid-receiving container (1; 101), in which the sediment is formed and/or has been formed, device (3; 103a) for induction of the sediment transfer for inducing transfer of the sediment to the upper surface of the liquid held in container (1; 101) during functioning, and sediment removal device (5; 105) for removing the sediment from the level of the sediment removal inside container (1; 101). The level of sediment removal is interconnected with the upper surface of the liquid held in container (1; 101) during functioning.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of separating sediment from liquid.
