FIELD: medicine, pulmonology, cardiology and respiratory sleep medicine in particular.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to pulmonology, cardiology and respiratory sleep medicine. A patient with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is subjected to a nighttime sleep polygraph examination and an Epworth scale questionnaire. Determined are the values on the Epworth sleepiness scale and the time on saturation is less than 90% of the total sleep time. Calculated is the sum (z) of the numerical values of the features multiplied by the discriminant coefficient of the feature, and summed with a constant. Then, according to the original formula, the probability of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in a patient with OAS is estimated. With a probability value of 50% or higher, a high risk of LVH is predicted in a patient with OAS with subsequent development of cardiovascular complications. If the probability value is below 50%, the risk is low.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to determine with high sensitivity and specificity the probability of HML in a patient with OSA by a limited number of functional signs.
