FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering and can be used in manufacture of segments for graphite thrust bearings used in submersible engines and pumps. Round bars or strips from stainless steel are cut into preforms. The heated preforms are hot-stamped to produce segments of the required shape. The segments are subjected to heat treatment, wherein stress relief, quenching and drawing are sequentially performed to obtain a uniform grain structure and the required mechanical and physical properties. Grinding, lapping and polishing of the segments are then performed consequently.
EFFECT: production of segments with optimal strength, ductility, impact toughness, impact resistance and fatigue resistance.
