FIELD: thermophysics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for studying the thermophysical properties of liquid metals. Disclosed is a method for determining the thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity of metal melts by the pulse method, in which measurements are carried out using a cell and a holder for a cell containing a crucible in the form of two concentric cylinders of different diameters and an insert with a lid that allows creating a flat melt layer inside the cell between the bottom of the crucible and the insert. The melt layer maintains plane parallelism as the temperature changes. The cell is clamped into the holder so that the lid is pressed firmly against the crucible. According to the invention, the cell is sealed by welding the lid to the crucible.
EFFECT: creation of a method for a comprehensive study of the thermophysical properties of liquid metals, including alkaline and alkaline earth metals, and multicomponent metal melts in a wide range of temperatures of the liquid state.
