FIELD: nuclear energy.
SUBSTANCE: method can be used in nuclear power engineering when analyzing safety of nuclear power plants with nuclear reactors of water-water type in case of severe accident with violation of cooling and core melting. According to the disclosed method, an oxide-metal molten bath of a prototype corium with a surface position of a molten metal is formed in an experimental apparatus and with corium crust on metal melt surface. Peeling is provided by cooling the surface zone of the molten bath. Further, the melt is oxidised by feeding an oxidant into a cavity located above the crust. Thermal conditions are stabilized, the temperature of the outer surface of the crust is measured and the heat flux removed by radiation from the outer surface of the crust is determined. Melt is crystallized and the thickness of the crust is measured. Temperature of inner surface of crust is calculated as temperature of monotectic of oxide-metallic system of melt bath. Thermal conductivity of the crust is calculated from the relationship for stationary heat conductivity through a flat plate.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of determining the heat conductivity of the corium crust at design simulation of processes which determine retention of the melt in the reactor vessel.
