FIELD: ammonia synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the synthesis of ammonia from a make-up gas containing hydrogen and nitrogen. The method includes two reaction stages carried out at two different pressures. The reaction of the second stage is carried out at a pressure higher than the reaction of the first stage. In the first stage, a product stream is obtained, including ammonia and a off-gas containing unreacted make-up gas. The first part of this off-gas is used in the second stage, and the second part of the off-gas is returned back to the first reaction stage. The method includes a stage of compression of the off-gas of the first stage from the first pressure to the second pressure, and the second part of the off-gas is taken before the compression stage and recirculated to the first reaction stage through an ejector.
EFFECT: process performance is improved.
