FIELD: high-carbonate bauxite enriching.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for enriching high-carbonate bauxite from carbonates in the production of alumina by the Bayer method. The method includes grinding bauxite in a solution of disodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) with a concentration of at least 100 g/dm3, holding the resulting pulp with stirring at a temperature of at least 70°C, then the resulting pulp is filtered to obtain enriched bauxite and a solution saturated with calcium salts, enriched bauxite with a reduced carbonate content is sent to the extraction of alumina, and the solution saturated with calcium salts is sent to the regeneration of the disodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid.
EFFECT: invention ensures effective removal of carbonates from bauxite, more than 90%, as well as an increase in the commercial extraction of alumina from bauxite.
