FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radio engineering and can be used to measure two-dimensional coordinates of a ground target by the goniometric-rangefinder method by a radar system consisting of a multi-beam transmitter with known coordinates, emitting encoded radar signals in specified directions, and a direction finder receiver with known coordinates, receiving signals reflected from a ground target, which determines the direction to a ground target and measures the distance direction finder - ground target - transmitter. In the claimed method, a radar system consisting of a direction finder receiver and a multibeam transmitter is emitted in the directions ϕn, (n=1, 2, …, N) by a transmitter with known coordinates х1, y1 of coded radar signals with its own code for each direction, which are scattered by a ground target with the desired coordinates x, y and are received by the receiver with known coordinates xt, yt, synchronized with the transmitter. The distance R transmitter - ground target - receiver is measured, the directions ϕn transmitter - ground target are determined by the radar signal code, and then the boundaries of the search area for coordinates x, y of the ground target are determined. The search area is limited by a straight-line segment determined by the intersection of the boundaries of the beam ϕn with the bearing line to the ground target ϕt. The coordinates x, y of the ground target are determined by testing hypotheses about the location of the ground target at each point in the search area, while the criterion of the working hypothesis is the minimum difference between the measured distance R and the transmitter - hypothetical ground target - receiver distance.
EFFECT: reduction in the number of tested hypotheses by reducing the region of uncertainty when searching for estimates of the coordinates of a ground target.
