FIELD: radio equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and can be used to calculate two-dimensional coordinates of a ground target by a ranging method of a radar system consisting of two multibeam radio transmitters with known coordinates, emitting encoded radar signals in preset directions, and radio receiver with known coordinates, receiving signals reflected from ground target. Reduction of the search area for possible coordinates of the ground target is achieved in a radar system comprising two multibeam radio transmitters and a receiver of signals reflected from the target, owing to use of information on the numbers of the multibeam radio transmitters and the numbers of their beams, signals of which provide illumination of the target and measurement of distances "multibeam radio transmitters – ground target – receiver". In the method of determining coordinates of a ground target by a radar system consisting of two multibeam radio transmitters and a receiver, radiation is carried out in directions ϕ1.n by a first radio transmitter with coordinates x1, y1 and in directions ϕ2.m by a second radio transmitter with coordinates x2, y2 of coded radar signals with its code for each direction, which are scattered by a ground target with unknown coordinates x, y and are received by a receiver with known coordinates xt, yt, synchronized with radio transmitters. Distances Rk "k-th radio transmitter – ground target – receiver" (k = 1, 2) are measured. Directions ϕ1.n and ϕ2.m "radio transmitters – ground target" are defined by codes of radar signals scattered by the target and received by the receiver. Boundaries of the region of searching for coordinates x, y of the ground target are estimated using coordinates of multi-beam radio transmitters x1, y1, x2, y2 and directions ϕ1.n, ϕ2.m of beams. Coordinates x, y of the ground target are determined by searching the x and y coordinates in the search area and testing the hypothesis of the ground target at that point, criterion of working hypothesis is minimum difference between measured distances Rk and distances R̂k "k-th radio transmitter – hypothetical ground target – receiver".
EFFECT: eliminating the need to measure bearings from radio transmitters to the target and reducing the target search area.
