SUBSTANCE: method is carried out by determining the location of the scanning radar station (RS) passive multi-beam, at least three-beam, a locator, in which the rotation period of the radar antenna is measured, the angle of rotation of the radar antenna relative to the direction to the locator is determined. In each sounding cycle, at a given angle of rotation the radar antennas measure the time delays Δτ21, Δτ31 signals scattered by the reflecting surface in at least two beams of the locator. Respectively Δτ21 - the delay of the signal received on the second beam, relative to the signal received along the first beam, Δτ31 - the delay of the signal received on the third beam, relative to the signal received along the first beam, then on the basis of the measurements made, the distance RK from the locator to the target, and also the angle between the direction of the radar station and the direction of the first beam of the locator is calculated according to the corresponding formulas.

EFFECT: expansion of functionality by providing a definition of the direction to the scanning radar station and its range, while increasing the reliability of the measurement results.
