FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention is used for fixing a sample, including a core sample or drilling mud, in X-ray transmission measurements and fluorescence measurements. The sample holder contains an enclosing structure having an axial direction and made with the possibility during measurements to at least partially enclose the sample and limit its displacement in the direction intersecting the axial direction. The enclosing structure has at least one section facing away from the axial direction and capable of transmitting exciting radiation directed at the sample and fluorescent radiation emanating from the sample during measurements. A device is also proposed that can be fitted with such a sample holder and which contains a radiation source, an X-ray transmission detector, a fluorescence detector, and a means of rotation for rotating at least one of the following components: a sample holder, an X-ray source, an X-ray transmission detector, and a fluorescence detector. In addition, a system containing such a sample holder and such a device is proposed.

EFFECT: technical result is providing the possibility of improving the measurement accuracy due to the synergistic effect caused by limiting the displacement of the sample in an undesirable direction or in an undesirable way, including in cases when the core samples were broken into separate parts with little or no attenuation due to the sample holder itself.
