FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering, in particular to methods for starting gas turbine engines. In the proposed method for starting a single-shaft single-mode gas turbine engine, including the supply of compressed starting gas from a third-party source to a gas-air path of the engine to turbine blades, according to the claimed solution, starting gas is supplied until an engine rotor reaches a rotational speed exceeding 5-10% a rotational speed of the engine rotor in a calculated operation mode, then after reaching the required rotational speed of the rotor, the starting gas supply is stopped and a time interval is maintained sufficient for purging the gas-air path of the engine with air incoming to its input until releasing the gas-air path of the engine from starting gas, after that fuel is supplied to a combustion chamber and ignited, wherein the purge time is determined experimentally before the engine operation begins.
EFFECT: implementation of the proposed method will make it possible to implement a reliable start for a single-shaft single-mode gas turbine engine using starting gas.
