SUBSTANCE: video surveillance system for the side zone on the passenger side of a cargo vehicle is proposed. The image processing units (111, 112) compare the visual data of the overlapping registration zones and detect an error in the video surveillance system, transform the visual data from the camera blocks (121, 122, 123) to reduce distortion in the horizontal image zones, identify the roadway markings in the visual data from the camera blocks (121, 122, 123) to maintain lane following. A cargo vehicle, a method for detecting an error in a video surveillance system, and a computer-readable recording medium are also proposed.
