FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a drill bit containing a case that contains a composite with a metal matrix (MMC), wherein the MMC contains: a mixture containing one set of particles and another set of particles, wherein each of the other set of particles is softer than each of the one set of particles, and a metal binder that is metallurgically bonded to each of the one set of particles and the other set of particles, wherein the MMC has a Weibull modulus greater than 20. A method for manufacturing a drill bit case, a composite with a metal matrix, and a method for manufacturing a composite with a metal matrix are also disclosed.
EFFECT: obtaining a drill bit and a composite with a metal matrix.
