FIELD: aerosol generating system.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol generating system comprising an aerosol generating device. The aerosol generating device contains a heating chamber. The heating chamber is configured to accommodate an aerosol generating product of the first type. The aerosol-generating product contains an aerosol-forming substrate. The system additionally contains an adapter element for inserting an aerosol generating device into the heating chamber. The adapter element is designed with such an external shape that it can be inserted at least partially into the heating chamber of the aerosol generating device. The adapter element has a cavity extending along the longitudinal axis of the adapter element. The cavity is designed such that an aerosol generating product of the second type, having a diameter smaller than that of the first type of aerosol generating product, can be inserted into the cavity and hence into the heating chamber.
