SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol-generating device configured for positioning an aerosol-forming substrate located therein, to an extractor for arrangement of aerosol-forming substrate in aerosol-generating device and to extraction of a smoking article from an electrically heated smoking system. Aerosol-generating device (1), configured to receive aerosol-forming substrate (203), comprises heater (115) for heating of aerosol-forming substrate (203) and designed for penetration into the inner part (211) aerosol-forming substrate (203); extractor (101) for extracting aerosol-forming substrate received in aerosol-generating device; wherein extractor (101) is movably coupled to aerosol-generating device between a first position and a second position, first position being an operating position defined by heater (115) being in contact with aerosol-forming substrate (203), and second position being an extraction position defined by aerosol-forming substrate (203) being separated from heater (115), wherein extractor remains connected to aerosol-generating device both in first and second positions.

EFFECT: technical result is enabling replacement of substrate without need for extraction of heating element.
